Introduction
The photographs exhibited here under the title Europe… To Die For, are a sampling of those that I self-published in a book of the same name. The complete book is available through blurb.com.
The statement below has been taken from the rear cover of the book, and should serve to provide some idea of what the book and the photos serve to relate. The book itself goes into much more detail to put the photographs into context.
“ In the first half of the twentieth century, Europe experienced two World Wars, each unprecedented in magnitude by anything before, the second beginning 21 years after the end of the first. Millions died in the European killing fields. The photographs presented here provide a visual journey to where so many known and unknown soldiers are buried, and how they have been commemorated. In North America, we have National Military Cemeteries, and a sprinkling of those from former wars, more so in the United States. But nothing here compares to what exists in Europe. This photographic odyssey reveals a portion of the staggering losses that Europe, and allied nations, suffered in battle.”
A .pdf version of the complete book on a DVD can be obtained from me, by contacting me at [email protected]. I will return your inquiry with the cost, including shipping.
